On May Day Monday 2017 10 people from Xperience Group took part in the Belfast City Marathon to raise funds for The Alzheimer’s Society. Fundraising efforts helped to raise over £1000 for the research charity, which supports people with dementia and their carers.
Xperience Group nominated The Alzheimer’s Society as the chosen charity for 2017. As part of our fundraising initiative, two teams from Xperience Group, hit the streets of Belfast on Monday 1st May 2017, to take part in the 26.2-mile marathon.
This year was the 36th edition of the Belfast City Marathon, a tradition that started back in 1982. Over 15,000 runners took part, with sore feet and sunburn as the order of the day!
Jacinta McKeating, Account Manager at Xperience Group and one of the runners, comments, “We were lucky to have the weather on our side on Monday and the buzz in Belfast had almost a carnival like atmosphere. The support was overwhelming, which definitely made the run that bit easier. Of course it was all worthwhile, and raising over £1000 for charity was the icing on the cake!”
The team at Xperience Group would like to congratulate everyone who took part in Monday’s marathon!
Alzheimer’s Society is a care and research charity for people with dementia and their carers. About 850,000 people in the UK are currently diagnosed with dementia. With this number set to rise to over 1 million by 2025, the aim of the Alzheimer’s Society is to change the face of dementia research for the future.
