In recent years, Sage 200 has undergone a major transformation tapping into the cloud market and launching a set of powerful business management solutions that give you the freedom to work how and where you want. Here we explain what the changes mean for you…

On cloud nine

The phrase ‘cloud computing’ only entered the Oxford English Dictionary in June 2012, but it’s already having a big impact on businesses around the world. In fact, the overall adoption rate for UK businesses now stands at 88 per cent.

It’s no surprise this rapid rise in popularity has attracted the biggest names in technology, with Sage introducing cloud functionality to its 200 range.

Sage 200 product evolution

Originally, Sage 200 was available as an on-premise and online version with a variety of modules, including Financials, Commercials, Business Intelligence, CRM, Project Accounting, Manufacturing and Bill of Materials. Over the years, Sage introduced new package options, known as Standard and Extra, designed to offer customers choice in terms of functionality and deployment.

In 2017 Sage released a major new update to its 200 range, focusing on modernising the product and introducing cloud connected capabilities, known as the ‘c’ range. As a result, Sage 200 ERP was renamed to Sage 200c, giving users access to connected data in the shape of bank feeds and Office 365 connectivity tools for remote access. Later that year, Sage Business Cloud was brought to life, offering a powerful set of cloud products for small businesses, from accounting and advanced financial management to industry specific enterprise management software (ERP). This meant further changes to the naming conventions, with the word ‘cloud’ replacing the ‘c-line’.

As a result, Sage 200 Extra was renamed to Sage 200cloud Professional, whereas Sage 200 Standard remained unchanged, with the addition of ‘cloud’ to its name.

Now known as Sage 200cloud Professional, the new release is designed to simplify business processes, customer experience and productivity so you can focus on what matters most – running your business, and regardless of your industry.

From simplified invoicing and a standalone invoicing module to the new Purchase Requisitions function providing an easy way to enter, regardless of whether you know the supplier or stock codes, the new version is bursting at seams with a set of new cloud connected features available at the touch of the button. What does this mean to you?

It’s more than just a name change. If you’re an existing customer, with Sage 200cloud Professional you gain access to a pool of cloud connected applications for each part of your business journey. You will also benefit from a more frequent release cycle with the latest updates that can be installed for you by your Business Partner seamlessly and at no additional cost.

For customers on older versions, Sage cloud-connected products are a fantastic bridge to full cloud solutions, allowing you to keep your desktop products you know and love, while receiving a number of cloud benefits.
