This International Women's Day, we spoke to Gemma McAnally, our Business Solutions Director. Gemma has been a leading female voice within Xperience, having joined the company in 2007, she was appointed to the Xperience Senior Leadership Team in April last year.
We asked Gemma what this International Women’s Day and the theme of ‘Break the Bias’ means to her:
“I love that each year individuals, organisations and communities across the globe take time to celebrate International Women’s Day. It’s a time to reflect on the progress women have made and also check in on what else needs to be done. The theme of break the bias really resonates with me as I believe it is about equality for all. A glass ceiling should not exist for anyone!
As a woman in the IT industry, often associated with and dominated by men, I believe it is important to push through any stigma that exists. There is a saying many will be familiar with, “it takes a village to raise a child”, I think this applies to a work environment just as it does to a home environment. Without a strong team of unique individuals each bringing ideas to the table, and each having their voices heard, it would be impossible for anyone to grow, develop and be successful. No one would ever “break the glass”.
So today lets #breakthebias and get one step closer to creating a world that shows that no matter who you are, where you come from, what you stand for, what you look like and what your beliefs may be, whatever the opportunity, if you want it…..you should be able to go for it!”
