This month employees at Xperience Group took on the world’s biggest assault course to raise money for the leading diabetes charity, Diabetes UK.
On 9th May 2015 employees from Xperience Group took on the Rat Race Dirty Weekender challenge at Burghley House in aid of Diabetes UK. Xperience Group aimed to raise £1000, but after receiving such a vast amount of support, 335% of the target was raised. Everyone within Xperience Group has shown their support and determination to raise money for Diabetes UK, with donations from staff, friends, family, customers bringing the total amount raised to £3354.74.
We spoke to some of its employees that took part:
Andrew: Running such a great distance was most the difficult part, given what little training I’d done.
Iain: Some of the obstacles were very tough. Scaling walls is not my forte and I definitely wouldn’t have completed them without the support of others.
Jade: It was extremely tough! I’ve previously completed 10 mile obstacle races, but this was something else.
Marcell: I’m not used to running, so that was most difficult part, but I will probably do it again next Year.
Neil: It was very difficult. Given my severe lack of training, every obstacle was a challenge both physically and mentally.
Andy: Given my lack of training I didn’t think I’d make it to the finish line, which was motivation in itself.
Iain: I love getting a medal… even at my age!
Jade: Initially the drive was to be able to say I’d done it, but that only got me to mile 13. Following this, I had to think about the cause, the generous donations we received and the reason I was there in the first place. Above and beyond that the support of a team member and the crowd really helped spur me on.
Marcell: I wanted to see what my body was capable of. I’ve never run more than eight miles and so 20 miles was an incredible achievement and one I was determined to achieve.
Neil: Given the motivational quotes I had given to other team members, I had to keep going.
