Xperience Customers Released from Gaol

Published: 27 March 2017

On Wednesday 22nd March 2017, Xperience Group hosted a series of educational workshops at the historic Crumlin Road Gaol Belfast. The aim of the data security event was to educate local SMEs on the importance of securing, managing and analysing customer data.

Keeping Data Behind Bars

Keeping with the jail theme, the event kicked off with a keynote, delivered by Warren Mercer Technical Lead at Cisco. With an estimated 66% of UK SME’s having already suffered a security breach, cybersecurity is a key concern among local businesses. With the demand for a deeper understanding emerging among Xperience customers, Warren provided an outstanding keynote to help address the issue.

During the keynote, Warren told delegates “Do not open emails which include links or attachments you are not expecting. Even if you know the person, check with them to ensure it is legitimate. There are preventative tools out there, but ultimately the risk lies with users. It is so vitally important your users are educated on the risks.”

Sentenced to Workshops

Following an insightful, informative keynote, delegates elected to attend workshops – ‘Fugitive figures’ a financials work shop, ‘Unchain your desktop’, a productivity workshop and ‘Perfectly executed customer relationships’, a CRM worksop. The overarching theme across each of the workshops was the importance of managing and utilising business data to create a competitive advantage.

Gemma McAnally, Microsoft Solutions Specialist at Xperience, expressed to delegates, “When reviewing applications it’s imperative to consider the business as a single unit and how each aspect of the business communicates with the other to ensure visibility. It’s no longer about what application do I need for X and which for Y, but which solution can provide a complete picture encompassing the entire organisation.  Integration and access to business information are just as important as functionality and critical for businesses seeking to gain a competitive advantage.”

Release To Gaol Tour

The morning ended with a panel discussion, enabling delegates to put their burning questions to the speakers. The majority of audience members wanted to hear more about what was covered in the workshops they had not attended. This provided an excellent opportunity for the guest speakers to provide delegates with top takeaways. Attendees then went on for an enjoyable tour of the Historic Crumlin Road Gaol!
