On Monday 7th May 2017, a team from Xperience Group took part in the 37th Belfast City Marathon, raising almost £800 in aid of Sands UK.
On May Bank Holiday Monday, thousands of athletes were scorched in beaming sunshine as they took to the streets of Belfast for the annual Deep River Rock Marathon. More than 17,000 walkers, runners and wheelchair racers competed in the 26.2-mile race, with thousands of supporters lining the streets to cheer them on!
Xperience Group nominated Sands UK as the chosen charity for 2018. This was the first in a series of fundraising initiatives for the Group this year and with Sands awareness month taking place in June, preparations for further activities are well under way.
Everyone at Xperience Group is extremely proud of the teams’ achievement and pleased to have raised almost £800 to improve the bereavement care received by parents and families, and to promote research to reduce the number of babies dying. Find out more here.
Gemma McAnally, Business Solutions Manager at Xperience Group commented, “The weather, the crowds, the buzz… Yesterday’s marathon had it all! As a complete non-runner (can’t run the length of myself) the energy from the team last year, and having been a spectator, I knew I had to give it a blast this year!”
Gemma adds, “The weather was unreal and the crowds, even better- it is true that they completely carry you! The team did so well, and we have already raised almost £800 for Sands. To top the day off, we had a few drinks in the sunshine to celebrate! Where do I sign up for next year?”
Sands exists to support anyone affected by the death of a baby, to improve the bereavement care received by parents and families, and to influence policy makers and promote research to reduce the number of babies dying.
